The Spectrum Gaming Group's February report suggests that Philadelphia Park is earning a daily average of $395, or $144,175 a year, on every one of its 2,703 slot machines — more than any other casino this side of the Mississippi.

“This doesn't mean that the players are winning less. It means that these machines are getting used a lot. In fact, they're getting used a whole lot. There may be times when people can't find a machine,” Spectrum Senior Vice President Joe Weinert said of the results.

BENSALEM - The slot machines at Philadelphia Park Casino in Bensalem are getting more action than anywhere else on the East Coast, according to a trade report study released this month.

The Spectrum Gaming Group's February report suggests that Philadelphia Park is earning a daily average of $395, or $144,175 a year, on every one of its 2,703 slot machines - more than any other casino this side of the Mississippi.

"This doesn't mean that the players are winning less. It means that these machines are getting used a lot. In fact, they're getting used a whole lot. There may be times when people can't find a machine," Spectrum Senior Vice President Joe Weinert said of the results.

Greenwood Gaming, which owns the gambling license at Philadelphia Park, promises to open a larger gaming center in 2009. That 225,000-square-foot complex would house 4,000 machines.

The Courier Times was unsuccessful in reaching casino representatives for comment Friday. Philadelphia Park spokeswoman Carrie Nork said no one could comment on the report.

Spectrum Gaming studied the daily income of casinos and the number of slot machines at each parlor. Casinos in other states made more money but also had far more slot machines.

Mohegan Sun in Connecticut earned $385 on each of its 6,000 slots in February. Each slot machine at Harrah's Chester earned a daily average of $387. Slots at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs earned $357 a day, according to the study.

Spectrum Gaming Group attributed the demand at Philadelphia Park Casino to "location, location, location."

"They're in a perfect spot. Most of their customers are experienced players accustomed to Atlantic City," Weinert said.

A spokesman for the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board, Doug Harbach, attributed some of the success at Philadelphia Park Casino to the gambling regulators who "chose a good licensee and made sure this casino hit the ground running."
